Eden Camp - Life during World War 2
On Wednesday the 4th May, year 5 went on an adventure to Eden Camp to learn all about life in World War 2. Over the course of the day, we visited over twenty different huts each containing something different about life during the war. Because the sun was shining, we even got to sit on the grass, relax and enjoy an ice cream.
This is what some children in year 5 thought about the huts:
The best hut was 5 – it was the Blitz! I felt terrified by the deafening noise of the siren, the smoke which filled the air. But most of all it was the scary hand, which moved up and down like a person calling for help.
Hut 21, 22 & 23 were the best. It was brilliant because it was all one hut making it massive. Inside I read lots of information and saw all the badges and uniforms soldiers would have worn during the war.
| The U-boat hut was my favourite. It was great because it re-created actually being inside a submarine. It was surrounded by water and had real life sound effects. Eden Camp is definitely worth a visit!
