 Jo's Garden 2016
On November 3rd, we officially named our allotment area, Jo’s Garden in memory of Jo Cox MP. We decided to name the garden in Jo’s memory as she had originally opened the allotment on a snowy day back in March of this year. At the naming ceremony, we were honoured to be joined by Jo’s parents, Gordon and Jean Leadbeater and her sister, Kim Leadbeater. Former colleagues of Jo were also present at the event.

Mr Leadbeater unveiled the new sign and both he and I said a few words about Jo, who was such a good friend and supporter of our school. The naming ceremony was also attended by several parents, our house captains and children from the gardening club and school council. I know that Jo’s family and friends appreciated the warm, caring atmosphere that greeted them and in a letter I received from them, only a few days ago, Mr Leadbeater commented on our ‘amazing children’ writing that ‘it was a pleasure and a privilege’ to open the garden in Jo’s memory. As if to typify the kindness and generosity of Jo’s family, they donated £100 to the school to help with the up keep of the garden. A fantastic gesture from truly wonderful people.
