On 22nd October Year 5 had a great, hands-on experience to learn all about rivers at Nell Bank. We split into 3 groups and each group had the opportunity to do 3 activities. There was a river walk, where we found one of the sources of the tributaries to the River Wharf. Then we followed it down to the main river, through the autumn leaves and mud. Whilst we wandered down we collected sticks! Once we reached the main river it was time to learn about erosion and deposition. Then we walked back across the floodplain.
We enjoyed our lunch all together in the sunshine. Next an afternoon of excitement, we had the opportunity to go pool dipping. We used nets and tubs to collect different creatures such as: newt poles, dragonfly nymphs and water boatmen.
Finally, it was time to go on the adventure playground! It was fantastic!
